2025/26 PROJECTS
Design Build Fly
Student teams will design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio-controlled aircraft which can best meet the specified mission profile. The goal is a balanced design possessing good demonstrated flight handling qualities and practical and affordable manufacturing requirements while providing a high vehicle performance.

Additive Manufacturing Mars Rover
Remote Operations Vehicle for the Excavation of Resources (R.O.V.E.R.) tasks university students to use additive manufacturing and an iterative design process to create an unmanned vehicle capable of gathering and depositing resources on an extraterrestrial landscape.

Automated Garbage Truck
The AY25-26 Student Design Competition (SDC) challenge is to design, fabricate, and test a versatile waste collection device that can rapidly and accurately navigate a model city with various terrains, collect and sort garbage and recycling, and transport and dump the waste materials into the correct facility (recycling center or landfill).

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 100,000 members in 140+ countries. Thirty-two thousand of these members are students.
